I'll do exactly thst....use silica gel packs. I do believe the answer is oxidation looking at how consistent everyone's response is. I'm glad...wS having Patek anxiety...haha

I think it wasn't just the case edge, some very mild patches on the side of the case too...everything went away with some pressure against the cloth. Rishikesan
