......I guess we are all entitled to our own view. I have collected works of art for many years now and know only too well that interpretation of art is an incredibly subjective issue. Interpretation is, almost uniquely, in the eye of the beholder. I think the picture will always be the ultimate template for any derivation thereof. Gordon's watch clearly, for him, captures the spirit of the painting. If one looks at the eyes of the cats, one can see why he thinks that. Also, the enamel team that created the watch had that specific objective in mind. Having said that, I do understand your point. I love the fact that Gordon is so animated by the watch. That type of passion is what we all collect watches for. Of course, it doesn't mean that the passion that Gordon has needs to be seen or even tasted at the margin by another. Such is art.....what is one person's treasure is another person's garbage.
