Hello Ian, even as a big fan of the "new generation" Calatravas (earlier this summer, the 6007G 'yellow' was the first non-Rare Handcraft I asked for my personal collection in MANY years! :-), I'm quite sure classical models won't entirely disappear..
Ref. 5227 aside, today the closest Patek's catalog gets to a classical Calatrava reference (although modernized in size and other details) is arguably with Ref. 6119, introduced two years ago, or exactly 15 after my beloved 5119. So while the definition itself of "classical" is likely to evolve over time....I'm sure we'll never see a "traditional" offering entirely abandon one of the most historic Patek lines!

Truth to be told, popularity is of no concern for me. It's a way to speak about this watch that I particularly like, and to share one or two (I hope) nice photos.
Fab, that had not occurred to me...
that these were probably the last classical Calatravas. I think that's right. But I'm not as sure as you are that there won't be more in the future!

A classical Calatrava? Yes and no. It could be discussed. No flat bezel, neither flat flanks or lugs, the frame of the indexes, their position on the dial... It isn't for sure a 96 reference. But I agree, it's a "classical" référence.

The yellow version really caught my eye, too. Was the first of the 6007s to make me sit up and take notice.
Thanks, I simply find it THE single most playful piece of Patek's entire catalog.... Not to mention it's so fresh, beautiful and modern! Add the obvious surprise to see 'Patek' written on its dial, and I immediately knew I had to have it! :-)

One of my all time favorites, too. I have the 5227G black dial and a 5127G so have never added the white dial 5227g. Your post has me thinking about it again. It’s fantastic.
