A wonderful watch. My thoughts: the shape of the case is unusual which lets the watch stand out. I would put a high gloss black croc strap on it to counterbalance the matte white gold, or a matte black strap in case you have the case repolished.
Think of the black strap like those black frames of the flemish old masters.

Geross, These cufflinks are on my wishlist... I have seen a few different versions offered online...Yours seem to be the newer model which is fabulous. Patek blue sunburst dials are magical and hypnotic. The keychain though....this seems like a cruel joke...
Pin buckles of an Ellipse are generally delicate sculptures
I have not measured the buckle of my 3738 J but I would guess it is also just 11 mm - 15 mm, if it is actually 15 mm at all. If the one you found fits to a fitting strap to the watch, then get that pin buckle.

black is not automatically "formal"
Often black is associated with "neutral", "technical", "dark". Give it a try. There is a reason why PP largely uses very dark colours, in particular black. Same as shoes.
