Adding a 5124g?
Hello everyone. I have enjoyed reading this forum for the past several months and this is my first posting.
I'm interested in getting opinions on acquiring a 5124g-011. I've been offered the watch at what I believe to be a good price from my AD.
My current Pateks include a 5119g, 5065, 5196p, 5110r, 5235, 5170g (black dial), 3940j, 5140g, 5712 and 5960-1/a. I also have a journe chronometre bleu.
Does it make sense to add another time only to the collection?
I appreciate any suggestions

Why not?
The case is enough of a change to give it a place in the collection! Having said that, you have a very fine selection of Pateks but surely such a set is incomplete without a Stern-approved repeater?? R
A repeater would certainly be amazing.
Unfortunately I don\'t think it\'s going happen in the near future but hopefully one day.
In case you travel,
a version of Travel Time complication would fit nicely. Aquanaut 5164 would be great because it works well in the pool as well as on the plane, 5134 is always elegant and the Pilot is bold. But to the question; 5124G, why not. Out of the rectangular watch...

I agree with you. The 5100 is my favorite too bits just hard to come by the white gold with blue dial. I have asked my AD to lookout for one for me. I have also put the order in for the pilot. Best Nick

Problem solved.
My AD came through and got me an 5100g. I agree with Kari that blue may be getting too popular but this is definitely my favorite amongst the 5100s. While I still think the 5124 is a great watch I think this one better fits what I am looking for right now...
One of the very few Patek grails for me. Blue popular? It has always been the case since the 60 / 70ies.
Don't worry about that. YOU got the 5100G, the best 5100 in my opinion. The only thing which counts is that you got a very nice watch. The rest is literature... Best, Nicolas

This is a nice surprise and a move we don't see everyday. I think the blue dial fits very well to that watch and will bring originality and modernity to a classical shape. I really don't think that blue is a fashion color, at all. Like Nicolas reminds it ...
