Patek Philippe

Accuracy...Patek vs. Rolex vs. Omega...

You didn't read all of my post. Rolexes have the potential to be one of the most accurate movements made, my last two rolexes literally held to within plus or minus 3 seconds for months, but again I had to be fired as a Rolex customer because I had to visit a local watchmaker who pulled out his Microstella balancing wrench a couple to a few times to get my rolex pieces to within less than a .1 of a second accurate. Then they would hold that consistency for months, see below.

The problem is that Rolexes come off the line far less accurate than Omegas, Balls and many other brands that are much less expensive. And so much off that they don't warrant the COSC. COSC is a scam when it comes to Rolex. Their designs are fine though. I respect their designs immensely just not their philosophy, treatment of employees and disregard for the COSC aspect of quality.

How's this for anal retentive in tweaking the Rolex to within spec. Proof they have the potential if you have a watchmaker pull out the Microstella Balancing Wrench to fix the off the line miss, but of course lose your warrantee:

10-2-09 9:15pm EXACTLY SAME as last night spot on
9-30-09 8:45pm Reset to spot on
9-30-09 8:45pm +2 seconds
9-26-09 9:00pm spot on
9-25-09 9:00pm spot on
9-24-09 9pm RESET spot on
9-24-09 9pm +6
9-17-09 3pm +.05 seconds RESET at Charlie?s he added 1 second with Microstella Balancing Wrench

After watching it for a month it was good for the above type accuracy for about a year and then it started to slow down, becoming even more accurate.

Here is an old omega ETA movement and it's out of the box accuracy with no help from my watch maker:

01/31/02  03pm  -6.5 seconds over 17 days no reset
02/11/02  10pm  0.00 DEAD On after 4 weeks 22:22:22 no reset
2/20/02  10pm +2 seconds on the palindrome of 2 no reset
03/01/02  02pm Dead on, pulled out crown too far and lost 2 seconds (i.e., I reset to -2 secs)
03/18/02  04pm +1 second
09/12/02  02pm Dead on to web atomic time -2 to unsynced wall clock

Yes you read that right, the Omega above had a near perfect 6 months, lucky yes but still three Omegas in a row had out of the box accuracy that kicked anything else I've ever seen.
