Not only for watches, but for most other items I've purchased I tend to keep their full packaging as they have some sentimental value. For watches I definitely keep even the plastic protectors! For the record I'm not a flipper

Yes this is indeed true..
As of the 1st July all AD's must sell their stock completely unwrapped. The brown box is for dealers only and cannot be passed onto clients. Patek is keen to stamp out Grey market dealers that buy boxed items from AD's and reselling them on.

My impression was that the "double sealed" would not exist more, that is the plastic wrap around the watch and the little cardboard box that it comes in, will not be given to the customer. Could it be that your AD has mixed up the message from PP?

I can never argue with bubble wrap! For the record, the wooden box is wrapped in bubble wrap before being put into the shipment box.
