IMO by far the most beautifull 'simple' Patek

Pictures found on the net, I don't know who made them It's only 37 mm ... and I'm happy it's too small for me If this would be 40-42 mm it would my my must-have dresswatch. It is extremely amazing...

Agreed!... And tnx god its too small :) [nt]

imho probably Patek Philippe's most classy and stunning dials EVER! This watch exudes style.

This watch looks good in picture but....

 By: CL : April 5th, 2009-17:54
it wears awkward on my wrist due to its angular structure and flatness. It wears bigger than a 37mm and the the second hand is way way too high up.....it's one of those almost but not perfect piece. it's a waste, it could be a total winner. *CL

I agree.

I was all set to buy one, until I actually wore it and discovered it wore too large for my tastes. I think it is the flatness and the fact that it isn't really contoured at all. Doesn't really hug the wrist at all and wore large. The high seconds dial als...

Agreed

This is the nicest modern simple Patek. I do think the seconds register should be larger. I was going to purchase one but it seemed too thin for my liking. I had no issue with the 37mm size - How big do the other posters think it should be?

View from a biased owner

As a biased owner of the 5196 P, I completely agree that it is the ultimate simple watch, even if the choice is extended to all brands. My final shortlist before settling for the 5196P was a white metal simple VC patrimony, the 5119 & a white metal annual...

I'm on your side, Bruno

The 5196P is an awesome watch. Some say that the solid case back is a negative point. I don't share this point of view. The Volume, the dial, the finish of this watch are just superb. You'd better try it, as you will be surprised by the size. The big aper...

Yeah I prefer the watch w/o display back because of the small movement

relative to size of case. But the watch apperas to be feather weight compared with Pt lange and 5098P which may be a negative point for me (at least).

Must try this in person!

 By: Wees : April 6th, 2009-07:39
I agree with the other posters suggesting to try this in person, as they point out it wears very differently from what you might think from pictures and specs. Very flat and looks like a plate on my wrist. The Richard Lange is 40mm but wears a lot better ...

a display back would be better

 By: Bruno.M1 : April 6th, 2009-08:21
I prefer all watches to have one but I accept this little mistake ;-) It might wear larger Nicolas but 37 is really too small. The Journe CS 40mm is also a watch which wears larger it looks like a 42 mm and this is superb for me. But a 37 that looks like ...

Correct, Bruno

 By: amanico : April 6th, 2009-11:49
It really looks like a 39 / 39 mm case. I couldn't believe my eyes when I tried it... Then I bought it.. But it depends of the wrist, of course... I still have in mind a pic of one of your watches in your bathroom. I was shocked! Best, Nicolas

well ...

I lost some weight since that pic even my wrist is a bit smaller than it used to be ... but still, nothing under 40 mm for me

5196 R and G but not P...

I've had the 5196 in Rose and White gold on my wrists, both looked stunning. But I haven't seen the 5196 P in person yet. This is a beautiful casual yet super-elegant minimalist wristwatch.

I agreed too! [nt]
