Hello Baron, I can not say I am a collector yet....
..I own just one Patek, a WT 5130p, during 2014 I did not buy watches, I went from speedmasters, to rolex, to AP, to some pateks, I almost bought a 5098, by that time I realized I was not ready, may be possible that I was trying to find to many rational arguments. By the end of 2014 I decided to forget about watches for a while, I went in mountain climbing trip for a month. When I was back i went to the local AD, and there it was a Golden Ellipse (3738/100 G), just perfect, that day I did not try to find a rational answer about why I felt that way, but if you ask, it was pure zen, when I saw the watch on my wrist I rested. I am 52, and I love my Rolex Submariner (green ceramic), and my Suunto climbing watch. I have a Patek 5990 on my "I want" list, but I know that the 5738p will be my next Patek this year.

How many of you have considered the Elipse?
The picture is courtesy of Kari.... I was just curious how many Patek collectors had considered this reference? It may be just peculiar to me, but when I see it, it makes me think "Patek" immediately. Maybe some of that is because so many wall clocks were...

Totally agree that the white gold one is truly special ...somehow a modern interpretation of a classic and the dial color very unique. A big plus is also the fact that is an automatic watch... I had to get the cufflinks too ...

I assume that you already have bigger pieces in your collection..the proportion of the white gold and the others is just perfect (unless you really have a large wrist but it could still work). The platinum one that is much larger didn't look as good to me...

Think of it as a horological aphrodisiac. Sense of urgency of time is not too exact cause lack of seconds hand just the time markers of every 5 mins. Of course it will always tell time with no hurry while your out on a date. Cheers Geross
