Yea. The minute track has 2 additional dots on top of the sigma logo which I’ve not seen or at least seen on any internet posting.

Interesting story of how I got this watch.

The Patek 3940 was and still is the holy grail for me and  I always wanted a Patek 3940 in white gold. However, it is always impossible to get it in Singapore; It is always snapped up immediately anytime it was posted for sale locally.

So I ended up getting a yellow gold 15202 in 2014 (yes - jackpot) and was surprised at the asking price last year.
Since it was a watch I hardly wore (too bling bling - less than 10 times since I bought it), I decided to sell it.

Then this 3940 platinum showed up for sale in Singapore and the seller and I worked out a deal and we ended up with my yellow gold 15202 going his way, and this 3940P my way with some cash top-up.  (Thanks Audemars Piguet!)

This turned out to be the same watch that was sold from a local shop whom I inquired and missed out which went to Owner A whom I reached out to inquire and missed out again which ended up going to Owner B which did the swap/top-up with me. 😊

In my opinion, the Patek 3940 is the epitome of elegance and engineering clubbed into one. Ironically, I can’t see the day, date and month without my glasses now that I am older and can afford it…

This holy grail will pretty much end my watch listing/collecting days. In the process of trying to liquidate the rest of my watches.

Hope everyone gets to own your holy grail one day!

First and second series 3940’s had the sigma Swiss mark sitting just below the minute dots (but the dots were not continuous) and the third series 3940’s had them “in-line” with the minute dots. I’ve seen many 3940’s in all metals and all production years...

Enjoy your beautiful watch

My understanding of this was the demarcation of the APRIOR initiative

Couple of brands during the quartz crisis came together and it was intentionally used to quickly mark when gold parts were used in a watch. Quite realistically it was just a marketing tactic that didn’t gain much traction.

I have not noticed or seen those marker dots before.

They certainly look like they belong there. Stunning watch. Here's my 3941J from the late 1980's -- whenever I wear this watch I feel like it's a perfect choice: 3941J ...

Found the same dial on another 2nd series Patek 3940 in 1988

Found it on another Patek 3940G model on Christies auction - a 2nd series 1988 P3940G whose movement number is 771 477 which is quite close to mine. Interesting dial variation - Could be a transitional dial used between the 2nd series and the 3rd series m...

Thanks for the replies!

Here are some pics of my 2nd series- I have owned two and have never seen the minute markers above the sigma- of the many I have seen where the writing is below the outer minute marker ring- they had been removed for a probable cleaner look. Maybe you jus...
