Patek Philippe

$14,000.00 service

I will admit the watch had some issues, a dial with radium Arabic numerals and radium filled hands which had burned a shadow on the dial so that in itself was something I knew could be a little pricey but the cost was primarily the movement. One particular note in the estimate was a paragraph devoted to the poising of the hairspring and having to supply new parts (some of which may have had to made individually). Recommended not to refinish case. Beyond that, pretty straight forward. I was prepared to spend up to $8,000.00 for the repair and honestly, I thought they had meant the estimate to be $4,000 and by mistake, indicated the $14,000 number .. which is why I called to confirm the estimate. At the time, a new Calatrava would have been about the same money or even a little less but since I couldn't wear the watch as I had hoped, it couldn't be with me and very hard for me to justify the expense.
It was an eye-opening experience without question.
If your watch is in reasonable condition and the movement had not been abused by third party watchmakers along the way (which I have seen quite a bit of that), I think your repair should be pretty straightforward.
Best of luck with it and I know when you get it back, you will be delighted knowing it's been brought back to Patek standards and can wear it with confidence, just be careful with moisture.
