My AD told me if it points to 6 o’clock the stainless steel under the band, holds watch in place. Not sure if true, but I change all mine to point to 12 o’clock . Lol . I can’t tell the difference.
Someone else told me it’s so that you don’t catch strap on things when it points to 12 o’clock . When you move your wrist away from yourself.

PP Strap Tongue Position
I'm curious why every strap on every watch I own has the tongue (point) towards the floor whereas my 5204P came with tongue pointing up. I far prefer it down. Is Patek the only brand that does this? I changed it myself but interested in input. Thank you ...

Matter of preference
I like it much more down, it looks silly pointing at your face every time you role your wrist.
Patek is the only brand I encountered which positions the straps in this way.
I guess the reason being it’s more convenient for the wearer to pass the long end of strap through the loops towards yourself, instead of away from you. Just my two cents. Best, Henry ...
I like that explanation and prefer snapping the buckle down by moving my opposite hand toward my body, instead of away.
It's reversed with a "tang" buckle, and I find it easier to pull up with that strap and buckle configuration, rather than pulling down..

Just a guess fm my own, it could be due to the PP deployment shape which is single folded and would be more comfortable to the wearer if the long end of the strap is pointing in the opposite direction.

Someone chimed in saying in Asia it is polite to have it pointed towards you at 6pm as a sign of respect to others.
The specification for a Patek depends on tang or deployant.
It is only deployants that they suggest the tongue point up. At the end of the day I always slip my watches on both ways (reversed on the wrist) before deciding which is more comfortable and then switch the strap round if needed. Generally I do find most ...
