I love that Centigraph has the ability to measure 1/100th of a second. And that is the raison d'etre of this watch.
I have read with interest many comments about whether this watch works or is accurate to 1/100th because humans cannot react that fast. But why does that matter? We have hand held digital watches or stopwatches that time to 1/100 or 1/1000ths of a second. FPJ does this ebcasue he wants to have fun and challenge his ability.
Quite frankly, for a regular person we cannot honest react as fast as even 1/6ths of a second. For high trained sprinters like the 100m at Olympics, they react to the gun in aorund 1/6ths to 1/5ths.
Quodos for FPJ to challenge himself and provide us with amazing timepieces that are "over the top and a little indulgent" like Resonance, Centigraphe, Thinnest Sonnerie, Vaga............ and of course thanks for the "regular" tourbillons, CS, Octa range!
Love the Centi for what it is. Forget if you can react to 1/100ths! Love this masterpiece of artistry and engineering and pushing the boundaries of horology
perhaps we should not care that the watch can time to 1/100, and just appreciate if for it's horological achievement and artistry, and this is a valid point (and to be honest, it's the approach I lean toward with this watch).
And we probably don't buy nice mechanical watches for their accuracy anyway. On the other hand I expect the complications on my watches to be accurate to reasonable degree, not impossibly off by magnitudes of their advertised design--and this is a conundrum with the Centigraphe, no matter how you feel about its artistry.
