They have, combined, an outstanding collection overall and a really fantastic Journe collection with some of the Tokyo Boutique pieces of course as part of that. The Tokyo pieces are among my favourites and were some of the first Journe watches to really capture collectors and see appreciation in price.
What resonates from her comments in the article is the same thing many of us here have experienced with watchmakers and brands, the personal element. She and her husband met FP relatively early on (remember Tokyo was the first Boutique for Journe, Japan is home to a very deep and knowledgeable base of independents collectors) and that interaction spurred a deeper interest and appreciation for the brand.
As for the anesthesiologist buying a watch mid surgery, hmmm, I’m not sure this is a good story to tell publicly, her passion for watches aside.
