Seiko SNZH
Dear Forum,
As earlier promised here are a few snapshots of the SNZH that I recommended (ok, ushered 
) my 16 year old to buy as his first watch.
The case is 41mm diameter and finished with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The bezel is unidirectional and a bit too easy to turn (I would not be comfortable using it for timing dives..)
The hands are very legible with a lot of lume. Very strong lume that is - at least for some time as it rather quickly fades when away from a light source. I particularly like the small lume on the seconds hand
The dial is at first glanze black but on closer inspection shows a very slight brownish tint and a very subtle sunray pattern. At certain angles (see below picture) the dial is quite reflective - but believe me, it is nothing that can hamper the legibility of the watch!
The date feature comes with Seiko's signature roman display of the day and a red square on Sundays as alternative to the traditional English three letter days. I enjoy this little feature for the variation.
All in all, a very cool package I think! It serves very nicely as a first watch for a young boy without me frantically wrapping his wrist in cottonpads whenever he goes skateboarding or whatever and I must admit that I myself tempted to get one.

Frankly, my next Seiko could well be another of this SNZH reference. In a longer perspective, I have been toying with the idea of getting a GS (for years now actually). I would just like to see one in the metal before committing.

I suspect many of us were introduced to the world of watches . . .
. . . was gifted to yours truly in '66, but I turned it down! He wore it for awhile but didn't care for the bracelet, so it was retired, then gifted to my brother many years later, and finally, made its way back to my possession four years ago. Unlike my other vintage Seiko, this one had little wear and was in great shape mechanically.
. . . that's far more comfortable than the hair-puller it came it.

They cover such a wide range and include some quite daring designs. Even the more conservative models have a lot to offer in terms of quality/price ratio. Great watches for the young (and young at heart ).
Yours is a lovely piece Art! I love its story above all, but its dial is also very cool with the high rising indexes. The cordovan bund works well with the case shape (I am inspired for my Movado Datron now).
