1 and 2 from the left are 56GS, 3, 4 and 5 are 61GS. #3 and 4 are the exact same watch (6156-8000, with faceted crystal).

Obvious question, why did you get two of the same special? And thoughts on more colourful straps for these white dials?
Because of the faceted crystal, and for parts, and because they were (at that time) relatively inexpensive !
I almost bought a third about 4 years ago.
On straps, personally I like these watches on black straps. But as you can see I mixed it up a little. I think I would grab something green, orange or even yellow next; but with texture so alcantara or something like that.

Movements in the Special adjusted to +/- 3 secs, so narrower than the normal GS. But still below the VFA.
For whatever reason, these watches don’t seem to catch fire easily ! Which is fine by me.
Love these Grand Seiko's. I have a 6156-8010, which is what the combination with the special+faceted glass+hss steel were called. The dial says 6156-8000, but in the brochure this was the 6156-8010.
I love how this watch has high beat, hacking, day and date both with quickset, all in the early 70's.

The time keeping on the high beat movements is crazy good, apparently they haven’t even made a modern watch as accurate. I was very impressed.
I also couldn’t believe how fast and smooth the quick set date was on my Jan 1967 5722. Nicer than any date change on my modern watches.
