No joke oh got me worried and thinking so I️ removed the uncle seiko clasp and buckle and put the SLA original from the silicone strap on. Fits like a glove. The measurement was perfect.
I too recently bought the same Uncle Seiko "tropic" strap for my SLA017, but after approx. 24 hrs. the watch is back on its OEM silicone.

Aside from being underwhelmed by the plasticky feeling of the new strap, I also noticed the buckle arm issue that Bill was nice enough to warn about herein. On top of that I also noticed that the springbar connecting the buckle to the strap seems to just barely engage. It looks to me like the hole on the inside of one side of the buckle isn't centered. I tried to take a picture but wasn't able to get a clear shot. I could have swapped the buckle hardware out as ripper444 did but... eh I guess I'm just not that motivated. No biggie aside from the money I spent for the "tropic" as I'm happy with the OEM silicone and don't have the lint attraction issue that others seem to have -- either that or my vision is just declining in acuity as I get older and I can't see it. It's gotten to the point where I found myself thinking "gee... now I truly get the whole cyclops thing." Still digging the watch and still haven't tried the bracelet. Unless I come across some nice 19mm NATOs with brushed hardware I don't see any more strap changes on the horizon. Best, RM
Can’t even imagine dropping the watch due to a faulty buckle. So far it’s pretty comfy but I️ also put the strap in warm water to let it mold a little!
