Trying another diver
Hi All
Just borrowed a SKX007 for a bit.
Been rather impressed with it. Not as big as I thought it might be - had worried that it might be a little to large. The only thing I would say is that on a bracelet it feels really heavy- probably not help by the lose fit - but wasn't going to change it as not my watch. Had a very definitel heft - which not sure I'd get used to. So think it'd have to migrate on to a strap of some sort.
Didn't feel as large as a turtle- though that might be my poor recall. Though have to say the PADI turtle dial is wonderful & may still win out. There is also a Pepsi dial of this to think about too. Not forgetting the Alpinist - yes I know it's not a true dive watch ;-).
So more options to consider- which is always good. I suspect it won't be a quick process as I enjoy considering my options even at the price level.

That's the reason why i like this one a lot more ... incredible bang for the bucks ! 4R36 movement and has the same accuracy as my wife's new Rolex.
... The only thing that bothers me about the SKX007/009 is the movement. I haven't had a lot of great experiences with it. Most of them died after a couple of years hard wear :-(.

Yeah you're right on price - still doesn't help on making a decision!
Pepsi dial looks great.
It's only going to be an occasional watch - so think longevity should be fine. Got a seiko 5 with the same movement that's probably 10 years old & had no issues.
Your second one looks great too - what model is it - is it a tuna can?
Not clear how the 72s6 and 4R36 movements compare / are related.

4R36 is automatic and manual wind. Pull out the crown and the secondhand stops. It's also supposed to be more robust and precise.
I think it's the same movement as the new turtle's.

That explains the problems with the movements -after a couple years they died (when you threw them at the police) [nt]

Funny thing about the size of the SKX007 vs the SRPA21 PADI
Given my scrawny 15.3" wrists, I tried the 007, the 009 and the PADI at the shop, and despite the PADI having the bigger case, the SKX007/9 felt bigger and wore bigger than the PADI!
Somehow the PADI fit better on my wrist, perhaps due to the shape and how it sat on the wrist. I agree though that the PADI and the 007/009 are fairly heavy on the wrist, but with the bracelet, they're quite balanced so the head doesn't flop around.
I've been wearing my PADI almost every weekend since I bought it. As you said, the dial is awesome (nicer than the 009's Pepsi) and it's just such a delight to wear. Give it a shot!

Certainly something to think about.
Problem in UK is shops having both and being to try them both on at the same time & then being able to have a think about it.
Good that we can get them - but I find virtual shopping for watches really difficult. Which was why being able to try the skx007 for an hour or three was really useful.

I can only speak for the PADI...
And say it's great. Fits even on my chicken wrist 
Have to say it's nicer on a strap for me though, as I find it a tad heavy otherwise.
