Tudor Monte Carlo ref. 7159 - Photo Review
The Target - TUDOR 7159/0 Grey/Orange "Monte Carlo"
Condition should be as pure as snow… Well the dials on the Tudor did not have the same quality controls that the sister brand Rolex had so many of the Tudor Monte Carlo range had issues with the quality of the dial. Most prominent was "bubbles" on the surface of the dial. Also not treated with the same care most that survived had battle scars and lost tritium among the many blemishes. Finding clean and complete examples as with all vintage Rolex and others the minute details have a heavy consequence on the collectability. You can always find great examples but you always seek the one with the less imperfections while still maintaining their character. After all if you what a perfect watch just buy a new one but it will not have the soul and character of the vintage one.
The heft on the Tudor Monte Carlo is obvious the moment you see it. A much thicker case than the Daytona gives a real presence. A much ticker case and shape ads top the sporty aspect of the watch.
Under appreciated, undervalued this is one that is sure to find a big following in the collector circles. That is, if you are ready to go on the hunt.

.Definitely, these MCs deserve much more appreciation and love.
Their thciker case, compared to the vintage Dayto, is an asset, as you said it very well.
A Vintage Dayto and a Tudor MC, that is something to consider.
I would sound like an heretic, but I must say that I much prefer these MCs with their ss bezel than with their plastic.
Now the question remains: Which one?
Yours is superb, but I also feel some strong love for the 7031. Both would be ideal!

But as you noted this is a good one to accompany any Daytona. This watch can fill the gap of a PN with a lot less effort. In no way a replacement but a good alternative with the painted dial and strong graphic presence.

A dream Pair for sure
I am still a long way behind you my friend. Still taking baby steps.
The waters can be treacherous in the Paul Newman world and mistakes can be very costly.
I think it takes a very seasoned connoisseur to be able to make correct judgment about a PN Daytona. We see many but….

I love these short indexes, they are so characteristic.
Now, same dial with ss bezel that would be my first choice.
I am not very mad about the black bezels on the Vintage Daytos and MCs.
Go figure why....

lots of 7159 have unperfect dials, yours is the best I have seen so far.

I apologize for my lack of originality. Not only did I copy your choice with MC 7159 but I even hunted the selection of nato straps like yours. To put a ribbon on the package I borrowed your picture style.
I guess it has to be true that imitation is one of the purest sign of flattery.

You may want to start...
You may want to start with looking at the "Real McCoy" first to get an impression of the balance and size. The Tribute is very well executed but if you do have a chance to handle the 7159 in person it will help. As with all watches different shapes fit differently when on the wrist. The tribute should be a little less hard to track down so you can always start there.

A mint vintage one will be an ultimate choice. However once awhile I do come to appreciate a truly honest modern tribute.
Like the Deep Sea and Polaris.
I'm still contemplating whether I'll end up to with pair ..... damn blomman. :-D

Inspired or not, that is a nice watch, congratulations.
Plenty character in this watch, not as obvious as a Daytona, I like it!
May be you could consider to marry it with a Heuer Monaco… it never ends ;-)
Which is also another interesting option... Monaco or Vintage Carrera?
I mean an olf Carrera " Panda Dial " would also be a suprb companion, for this Tudor MC.
