2010 Sub and GMT II Cyclops
hello all,
newbie question....I would like to buy my first Rolex as shown at Basel this year. Either the Sub or GMT II. I am leaning towards the GMT II.
Whilst i haven't ever tried a Rolex on... from pictures the Sub looks the smaller of the two?
the bubble over the date is a cyclops? I do not want!
Is it an option on either model not to have the "bubble"? it looks horrific. total distraction from an otherwise beautiful piece.
My apologies if that opinion is blaspheme.
Anyways any insight would be greatly appreciated.

pureold from my limited knowledge there is no option ("box to tick") to have the Sub made without "the bubble". However, as with everything if you have enough money then it can be done.
I think they are very similar sizes but may be wrong...
A local watch store told me...
..that the cyclops bubble can be removed from any Rolex crystal. They remove the crystal from the watch, put it in a microwave just long enough to warm the glue, and off it pops, then they have some sort of cleaning fluid to wash off any excess glue. If I'm wrong, please correct! I think, personally, the cyclops cheapens it and it looks so much nicer without. Enjoy! =:^D
Acetone and chisel; it is possible..... or get the 14060M
The current 'no date' Sub' ref 14060M would be my suggestion.

In a world of reissues at every turn, with the old school bracelet rattle and embarrassingly ill fitting quirky bent steel vintage end pieces, it’s actually pretty much the original Sub' still on sale; like finding a NOS piece in a closeout jeweller.

Here is how I do when I remove my cyclops.........
when I try that on one of my DateJust´s.
I start with my cyclop remover kit.
Pull it up in my full size Bergeon case holder.
And start thr work.
Damn, Rolex have quality glue so I have to warm it up a bit.
Now I hope it will come off.
Ouups, not so good.
What do you think, did I have to change crystal? Or can it
be polished?
When you try that on a GMTIIc or the next Sub with antireflective cyclop so will
you get a antireflective window at the crystal where the cyclop was.
