Rolex

Dear Purists, I was never much of a Rolex fan but am thinking of taking the plunge. It seems the two tone Submariner with Blue dial has been quite popular. Looks great but I think I want to stay away from it.

Here's what I have been looking at:

• YachtMaster in SS and the YachtMaster II.

• The retro look of the Cellini Prince in Yellow Gold.

• The Explorer II

I want something that is durable (of course the Cellini is not) and that the "mainstream audience" isn't wearing but I also want something that has a great value to pass on to my sons.

Maybe you wouldn't recommend any of the above? Any thoughts, advice, steering is greatly appreciated.

The price is ridiculously low for this beautiful piece, and maybe will be soon discontinued...

I'd personnally avoid the YM II, but that's just my personal opinion, I don't like the esthetic of this watch...

The Explo II is very nice too.

The Prince, aaah, the Prince...I loved it in pic, but when I saw it in vivo, I changed my mind....Too thick, the dial is too small,

There is IMO smething wrong wit this watch, and it's a pity as I was ready to love it...

the YachtMaster in SS with platinum dial is what I was looking at, but if I remember correctly, the bezel is immobile.

I agree that the Cellini may be a little too hard to read. Kind of like my Seiko Discus Burger... that is hard to read but it looks cool! LOL

So maybe the YM SS w/PLT is the way to go.

I would also go for a Sports Rolex and if you're not looking for a model with a glorious past and history - like the Explorer - the YM seems an excellent choice and a great value for the money.

the Explorer does look great. In fact, I think that is the model I first took a liking to. That is the one with the fixed bezel that I mistook for the YachtMaster.
Hmmmm? Explorer or YachtMaster? Explorer or YachtMaster? It will have to be one of these two.
