Rolex

I'm really excited that we now have both a Panerai and Rolex forum here. Last month I bought a Rolex Daytona and only recently have been adding a few Panerai's to my collection. So now, I am starting to see parallels between the two Companies. There are a number of things that might be worth discussing. I've heard Panerai mentioned as the next Rolex. But, specifically, I'm wondering whether the Zenith movement in the Daytona is a good indication that all of the third-party movements in Panerai watches are going to become even more in demand in the near future (not counting the ETA based movements). I'm thinking of the 163 and the 190. After I bought my Daytona, I started searching for a Zenith Daytona. To my surprise, Zenith Daytona's are not that easy to find and those that are available are commanding a pretty good premium from what I can tell searching on the internet. I'd appreciate your thoughts from all the Rolex and Panerai fans here.

I am sure Panerai would love to be the next Rolex.

But surely only by reputation and demand.  With 900,000 + watches on the Rolex side VS. maybe 50k watches the on Panerai side.

But having said that there are similarities between the two as well as some early history.

Only time will tell.

PS.  I am soooo jealous of those who had the insight to by Daytona watches back in the day.  Does should a lot like some Paneria watches today.

The 1st Panerai watch was ...A Rolex case with a Rolex Cortebert movement, ....The Cali!

All vintage (1930's-1950's)  Panerai cases apart from the last one (2/56 aka Big Egiziano) were made by (or on behalf of) Rolex. And indeed the Rolex/Cortebert Cal. 618 was used in all these case variations.

So one may argue that Panerai is in fact...

As Asi mentioned in the thread, all vintage Panerais were made by Rolex.
