The condition seemed remarkable but my vintage encounters have been few. The price certainly is, though. Surely grooming in the Rolex CPO program has added handsomely to market price.

For me it’s all about the aesthetic. The ROC dial, solid sub dials, slimmer hands and baton markers, and brushed bracelet is so much more refined than the latest iterations. The only problem is ensuring the provenance and the price! At EUR 120k asking this is more than 2x the cost of purchasing a new 126500 and having it modified by AdG. Admittedly the case size has grown to 40mm but the overall aesthetic is pretty much identical - no crown guards and millerighe pushers on my 6263 look-alike.

You should be able to get a very nice big red for 85-1005k USD. Don't do it. There are some very reputable dealers who can source this.

There's something quietly painful about a 6265 behind glass. You see that matte dial and you already know a Rolex service has touched too many of these. Replaced hands, refinished cases, erased decades in an afternoon. The CPO programme promises authenticity but sometimes delivers a watch that's been made too perfect. Originality is fragile like that. That said this dial looks like it survived untouched. And that changes everything.
