Yellow gold Deepsea
A couple quick shots of the new Deepsea in a case in Bucherer. I took these pictures two days ago and I went back today to ask if I could try it on but it’s been sold.
It looks more attractive in the metal than I thought it would but, much as I love the Deepsea, this version would not be for me. It’s as subtle as a punch in the face!

Although at a technical level I am impressed that Rolex have made a gold watch that can withstand the stated depth, plus at least 25%. Albeit with an inner case inside the gold outer case. I would have thought that gold would be far too soft for anywhere near this depth.

Yes, I quite liked the combination and tone of the yellow gold and blue.
It’s just that there is a LOT of gold! Given the size of the watch it is going to get noticed.
If you go all out then the metal rings on the indices and hands should be gold too 😇
And a gold frame on the date window as well
But then you won’t be able to move your arm!
More seriously, I assume the hands and indices are already gold like most/all Rolexes.
I think it’s audacious and cool. An “In your face” and
“I don’t care what you think of me” watch. So in that sense it’s a “confidence watch.” The Smurf type dial works on this watch and it would not be nearly as nice with a metallic sunray dial.

Rolex know what they are doing and who to aim their products at. It’s just that this one isn’t for me or the work/social scenarios that I find myself in. But that’s fine. The right person will love this watch I’m sure.
I would prefer a watch like the deep sea in steel. You don't wear gold while diving or roughing it up. 😊

True. The deepest I have gone is 180 ft. Long time ago. My Submariner covers my needs.

I love that this watch exists, 50 years after it would've been less remarkable, though I'm still sticking with the JC 126660.
