When I first saw the fluted motif dial DJ back in 2022, I had asked my SA to put me on the list for me. Specifically, a Datejust 36 with blue fluted motif dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. In my head, it was an evergreen watch, one which I could enjoy today and, when my daughter turns 18, could pass on to her. After nearly two years waiting, I get a call from my SA several days back asking if I would consider the palm motif Datejust instead. While still a DJ36, it had no fluted bezel and was on oyster bracelet. I also wouldn't mind an OP36 or OP41 with Celebration motif.
To be honest, I had never seen a Palm before, only on pictures on the internet and... it didn't look great. So I asked if my SA could hold the watch for me for a few days, so that I could find a window to swing by to have a look. I am no longer looking for any specific Rolex, so I didn't want to add a watch which wouldn't get any wear time. Seeing the watch for the first time in the metal, left me with a good impression. It looks better than in most pictures I'd seen. And somehow, a smooth bezel works with the oyster bracelet. Ah, a classic Rolex with a subtle twist!
Suffice to say... no regrets, and I am now the proud guardian of this watch for the next... oh, 15 years or so ;-)
