The 1972 sigma dial is more discrete, the green is more eye catching. I would go for the 1972, for its more classic look. One thing I like less on the green is these big white indices and
The larger fluted bezel.

For originality, I would also go with the more vintage one.

the size is perfect, pie pan dial & this is a non lume dial which is nice because you don't have to worry of a fallen lume plots

For years i see happen it.
A green snooker table, and than the playfield is blue.
Tennis courts change. Gravel, green, blue.
When green become blue it looks so fresh.
Soccer is different. Gras is green, a lawn is green.
On a Golf field, i belief they call it the green.
Last interesting thing.
Athletics.
They run at a course with lines.
I seen matches where they run on a green course.

I would go for the 1803 (1972) for the following reason
- sigma dial is sought after by collectors
- the slow beat movement series (1570, 1556 etc) are the last Rolex movements that were to a degree hand-made and of outstanding watchmaking quality
Reference 18038 has the high speed movement (3035, 3055) which is the first generation mass produced movements. (If you want a "modern" high-speed Rolex, go for 31xx or newer.
A gentle tightening of the bracelet would not hurt, but in the end, the 15xx movements and the older oyster cases are the indestructible Rolex models.
The "sigma" dial is called so because it has a lower case letter "sigma" next to "Swiss"
The reason behind the "sigma" symbol was to underline the craftsmanship and quality of Swiss traditional watchmaking in the upcoming competition with the quarts watches. What the sigma marking really means is that the indexes and the hands are made of solid gold. Beware that numerous watches with gold indexes and hands do NOT bear the sigma marking. But to (some) collectors this has a value. Hence I would say that the "sigma dial is sought after by collectors).The manufactures using the sigma symbol on the dial were members if APRIOR ("l’Association pour la Promotion Industrielle de l'Or ") - an initiative taken to promote the use of precious metals in watchmaking as a symbol of Swiss quality watchmaking. You will also find the letter "sigma" engraved on gold cases and bracelets.

Are all
products during that period engraved with sigma letter or sign on its cases and bracelets ? is there possibility without the sigma sign
Without having seen any figures, I would believe there are quite a few without the letter sigma.
That should makes it more desirable to collectors. Also remember “sigma” was in play only during a few years during the early 70-s.
I am a fan of colorful watches so between this 2 I would have to choose the green dial 🤷♂️ [nt]
