They are clearly-different watches, specifically in terms of the bezel, bracelet, and level of finish. Vintage Rolex is more tool-ish, and the latest Bat-girl and Pepsi are bordering on sports luxury (in terms of finish).
So they compliment each other very well.

When I received mine, I was actually thinking that I have a rarity since like you I only saw the lighter bezels of the first models.
But then I learned that Rolex perfected the colors and now this is the standard color.
I also think that the movement has improved compared to the Batman and Root beer. Much smoother winding and way smaller free play at the hands setting.

I had the old, liked it & like the new. That said, as long as ageing is fashionable, the old will be more valuable, of course. [nt]
