Everything is possible... We may also guess that the Devil is dyslexic. 
On a more serious note, this is not the first time I / we notice that weird detail. I saw the same VI 66 with Rolex 5513, another 1016, and a few other references.

Seems to be specific to a serial range 1,5xx,xxx for 66 and 1,7xx,xxx for 67
No explation as to why but just where they seem to appear.

For the Tudor, this is not relevant as the serial number is very different. For the Rolex I posted, 1, 4 and 1, 5 xx xxx. [nt]
