just picked this up yesterday. not completely in love but i had the itch for a YG daydate:::)))  the dial will have to go, either for the champagne with baton markers or for the diagonal motive. very well made watch, great bracelet (simply the best), feels like liquid gold::))

I am not usually a fan of YG watches (esp with full bracelet) but it just works so well on the day/date. 

You will get an extra bounce in your step and smile on your face if you wear it with a pair of jeans and nice shirt and enjoy a drink with friends.

it is a great watch, no doubt. i bought it as an almost (daily) wearer since my patek 5711R scratches like crazy. can't take it on a trip, lug it around in airplanes and all that.i hope the DD does better .....

I am told Rolex policy is not to change a dial until the watch needs a full service. When they do change the dial you will get and be charged for a full service. I just inquired on this with Rolex.

What do you not like about the Romans. Is it the lack of any lume?

i find it hard to read, very little contrast between the dial and the hands. i shall get it changed next week (rolex policy or not, the AD will do it). which one should i get? champagne
stickers with lume or silver diagonal?

Have you thought about the olive dial? Or are the hour markers of the olive dial only available in WG and RG?

after four days with the watch i get to really really like it. the robustness is great fun indeed -no scratch yet although i have not been really careful. the day date is and feels like an elegant tool-watch set in liquid gold. shiny and bling? yes but in a good and fun way.  the dial has to go (still) but other than that i could not be happier. 

Beautiful piece, but why purchase a 35,000.00 watch that you don't love?

well, i just lusted for the gold piece::))) it is a bit different from loving the watch, as a piece of horology. maybe i should have said: i always loved the jewelry content of the DD40.
anyway, now i do really like it a lot and appreciate it as a great piece of engineering. particularly at midnight, when the instantaneous day/date change occurs::))
currently i am thinking of adding a green dial DD36:::))))

Always been one of my favorite watches and I'm considering one myself. Now I need to find a buyer for my VC Overseas 35mm, yellow gold white dial. PERFECT!

i have now worn the daydate 40 for about ten days. it is just perfect: useful info and strikingly beautiful when you look at it, otherwise you just forget it is there. with my pateks i always try to be careful not to bump and scratch them (they do scratch nevertheless), this rolex is a wonderful no-hassle watch. looking forward to the new dial (still not sure which, will report back). a long time keeper!!!!

I found that my Rolex SD4000 improved its accuracy over the first year. He movement seemed to settle int to a rhythm. Some may not agree but that was my experience.
That watch is certainly a keeper. Please post more pics especially when you get the new dial.
