... and regarding the photograph you show, what I really love there is the intense patina of indexes in contrast with the black dial which makes for an awesome look.
As you know, I have been in the hunt for a creamy white dial 16550 for some time, a variant which I never had seen in person here in my hunting grounds. You also know that unexpectedly a couple of months ago a friendly dealer here which I had consulted about the creamy dial, offered me a black dial 16550 from 1987 (not rail not spyder either).
Though It was not in my plans to own a black dial 16550, it was seeing it and falling in love, so I inmediately made a deal and took it home. The dial is in perfect condition though the indexes show only a very very slight patina, very far to the spectacular patina shown on your picture above.
I´m very happy with the discovery of this model which I never had paid due attention before. I only wish I will find my creamy cousin some day soon to make company with this one!
