Considering the Ingenieur from the ‘vintage’ connection. What’s the verdict on this model?
Looking at both the steel and 18k versions, which both seem an excellent buy on the second market. Nice, larger size at 42.5 and 12.5mm thick. In-house 80111 Pellaton movement. Personally, I think I’m most keen on black dial steel and this bronze dial below with rose gold case. Aside from the lack of amagnetic properties, which was a hallmark of the original, what are your thoughts on this model in general? Thanks for any feedback

From looking at the position of date window.if it were 40 mm might be more proportionate

I like it
The colour of the dial is nice and it is made of my favourite material titanium. But the lack of antimagnetism is what pulls me away from this piece. Have you seen the Kurono piece with the salmon dial? A common friend of ours has it, and will let it go at cost if he knows of a fellow collector who will treasure the piece. 
My recommendation is to wait for Blancpain. It will be released in the next few weeks. Something to feast our eyes on.
Another piece I like is the mechaquartz IWC 3815. It looks stunning, and wears a little small. What do you think Doug?
which Blancpain? The newly teased from the female fifty fathoms award? is this a new 42mm line?
Everything pleases me, except the size. I would have preferred a 40 mm case, or even better 39 mm.

This would have been considered a small format for IWC when this came out. They were producing absolute dinner plates along with a bunch of other brands.

I think this is a nice every day watch.
You could wear it casually as well as formally.
To me it’s like the grand Seiko. Very attractive but not look at me, which I personally prefer. Sometimes he best statement is choosing not to make one and this watch works that well.

I find the color of the dial very intriguing BUT this uninspired white date window kills the beauty of this dial.

Agreed and the closeness to the center of the dial makes it even worse 😔
IWC has a nasty habit of using older/smaller movements in bigger cases.
Agreed, and this isn't close to their worst offender (the Mark XVII if i recall seems to have a floating date that's really bad)
IWC could do itself a big favor by unifying its Mark lineup's size
Clearly these pictures are not exactly accurate due to the fact that they are CGI but one can get an idea of how bad a bigger dial can look with a date properly positioned for the smallest dial:

LOL, yup, it just starts drifting in. "Lazyness", as my father would say. I mean, Valgranges makes an excellent movement just for this purpose when the case get to 41mm and up.
I really can't understand why makers don't buy the ETA Valgranges movement more often. The date is in the right place right at three, when put in a watch 41mm or so, and up. If they keep buying those 11.5 ligne movements, it just looks a wandering or floating date, a little silly, really.
It's called fattening of their bottom line and sadly many higher end manufacturers subscribe to it as well.

CONCLUSION, for those keeping score at home.......
I really like the package, movement, dial, etc. In the end though, a couple nagging things kept me from it. First, the lack of amagnitism like the original. If they had simply modeled it after the original, but didn't actually name it an Ingenieur (especially on the dial), it may have been different. Second, the white date that is floating too far out there; after looking at more photos, I can't 'unsee' it. It's too obvious.
