That is good question, and it brings out one of the best things
about this watch. Let me start by saying that I almost passed on this watch. I had never been a fan of broze watches. I had held a pristine 382 and to be honest, I though it was nice, but not enough to buy one. When I held my 507, I was surprised at the finish of the bronze. It looked like rose gold. My AD handed it over like it was a newborn baby and told me that he had received three offers for it, in the day that it had been in the display waiting for me to pick it up. I decided to take the plunge and figured that I could sell it down the road if I did not fall in love with it. In the first few weeks the finish remained pretty much the same. I decided to shake thing up a bit and took it to the beach. Even after rinsing it with clean water it looked like this

I did not like that it looked uneven so I did the ketchup trick,
After the ketchup, it went back to looking like this,
That was about a month ago. I have been wearing the watch almost daily, and have noticed that the patina has come on faster and more evenly than before. I have had the watch for about three months now but it has been the last month, when it has started to really grow on me, and now I don't think that I would let it go. I can't wait to see what it will look like a few months from now!

about the late reply. When I got the watch, I did some research on accelerating the development of the patina as well as cleaning the watch without damaging it. I read a few articles, ranging from hardcore chemistry to everyday household tips. In one of the household tips articles, I read about lemon juice and ketchup, and I confirmed it on one of the Panerai forums. I figured it would be harmless to try, and I did not have any lemons!LOL!

One question though...
Did you sell the 382 before it developed any patina or your 382 did NOT patina at all? Would have thought they've used the same material between 382 & 507?
I did not own a 382.
A friend of mine owns it, and I just tried it on when he bought it. I have been told, that it is the exact same formula on both the 507 and 382, but my watch has never looked like some of the 382 I have seen( including the one in this thread) even after being in the pool or the beach. Go figure...
