Semi OT: Got new Grail to pair with my PAM
well first off... A big thanks to Nad for helping me connect with my IWC Grail. Thank you Nad!!!
3 years ago, I obtained my first grail....the 233K. I know not a DNA play, but I love the complications and relative simplicity of the dial (when compared to other brands)...As I knew I will not be in the good fortune to be collecting a large quantity of watches, I knew I had to pick my 2nd watch that would be very complimentary to my first...With a lot of thought and consternation, I went with the 5001-07. One of the nicest white dials around! Clearly you can see I like long power reserves and their indicators.
I
thought I wouldn't enjoy the Auto feature as much as the Manual wind,
but the Pellaton is super efficient, and it is very easy for my
non-active self to get it to gain about 0.5 day to 1 day of reserve.
Typically my daily activity would just keep an Auto from not lowering
its reserve, but on the 5001-07 it actually goes up. Yippee! Also, I
have read that it is not detrimental to occasionally manual wind the
5001-07, so I guess I have the best of both worlds.
Here is one shot that has my new IWC with its complimentary brother. The dial and numerals change colors in different light. I really like how sometimes the numbers are more royal blue, and sometimes they are a very dark grey/blue.

Thanks OC...actually what surprised me the most...
Was the color of the blue strap. On iwc website it is depicted much more royal blue, but it is much darker. Being a panerai guy I thought I was going to change strap almost instantly with one of their OEM santoni straps. To my dismay it doesn't look like changing straps as easy as in panerai let alone the quick release system in the 233
Well...the 5001 fits under the sleeves more easily...
So maybe I wear the 233 on more casual days at work. I have been wearing the 5001 for the past two weeks!
