And there can be so many factors playing a role.   But compared to the 448/449 that you mentioned, it might be difficult to see 424/425 being more collectable due to the sheer numbers of them in the markets.   However, 10 or 15yrs down the road, they might be just as collectables as the others, who knows?

I'm interested to know, however, how does it play a role in terms of your fondness on the piece?   Do you like it more/less because it's collectable?

Well... I have the 424 already, and to me its highly collectible in that never in Panerai history, you have both a date & a Panerai logo on a Cali dial, and it's crystal not plexiglass. 448 to me less desirable, same dial no date no logo & its a re-edition of 249, this time cheaper in SS. However, 449 may be a different story and differs to 425 without the PIG on the dial, I think to have a PIG on the dial spoils it all. Being a Boutique Edition, to me 449 is considered to be collectible in my book. And of course, I love the blue hands...

Congrat ianmar on your new 424. You may have a point there, but only time will tell, as suggested by Jester.
I do agreed with you that it has a date, and sapphire glass, and its more practical for everyday wear.
All in all, I think the 4 will be highly sought, and for those you missed out on the 448 & 449, 424 & 425 are
just as good....

May be sometime in October we get to see 448 & 449 but here's a photo of my 424 & so far the wait list for one is long...

If I still have good funding... may be the 449 will pair off this 424. This 424 with gold hands makes one nice piece from Panerai

Why?  Because the dial is cleaner and more attractive in my eyes

Otherwise, it's difficult to predict the future in terms of collectibility when it comes to Panerai watches now since there are so many more pieces made today than before in the past.
