i am really interested in buying a new watch 

I really like the Radiomir 

but i need to have a date on my watch

also i prefer a 40mm or 42mm 

i don't like the very big ones 

any advise will be highly appreciated 

i havee a budget of 5000-6000 US$

Hopefully we can give you some inspiration here!!  I am fairly conservative and originally liked the panerai 40 and 42 sizes (at the time owned a rolex explorer II) but over several years gravitated towards the "panerai-size".  Sometimes I still wear my 40mm explorer and others my 44mm 233.  I find I also can do a 47 Rad (see attached).  47mm Luminors are gigantic on my wrist, so this is what works for me.  I hope this helps.  In the end, you have to do what's right for you!!

For the budget you mentioned, you will have to go Luminor, perhaps the 40mm will suit your taste. 

Otherwise, you can hunt for the Rad in the second hand market which also can be fun.

First time, i collected Rolex, specially vintage Subs. They are 40 mm, and i find it very comfortable.

As i bought my first Panerai (PAM001) in 1998, i was afraid with the 44mm. 

But honestly, i really find it very wearable and comfortable too. This was better day after day... untill i found my old Subs too small!

So, as a Panerai must be a big watch (45 for Rads, 44 for Lums and 47 for the historic sizing), i think you must buy one in those dimensions, whenever it is not an actual PAM!!!!! Try it, and you will see.

If really too big for you, i agree with all the purist who answer to your question: buy a Rolex. It's prestigious, reliable and indestructible.

Just to let you guys know finally found what i loved 

bought the PAM388 Radiomir black seal with date 

and also the Rolex Sub with green dial and green bezel
