Officine Panerai

I was looking for panerai shots online which included these 4 pieces.  I couldn't really find any.  So, I figure I'd post these for the next guy looking....

I really love these 4 watches. 

The more time I spend with the 232, the more I like it.  I really enjoy the solid caseback.  The watch has a good weight to it and wears properly and feels good on the wrist. 

Anyone with strap recommendations for any of the watches below - greatly appreciated!

I have to agree with you on the 339. When I bought it I thought I was going to wear it....forever....Alas, there something "missing" that makes it a less than outstanding piece. I mean, when I don the 1A, the 36 and others I walk around with an erection. Not with the strange object, though. Go figure. I also had a chance to wear the 375 and I had the same funny feeling. I'll buy it nonethless, as a Darwinian link between the 127 and 339, but I know already that the weird 339 feeling will be there also....

This is not the only Paneria watch with this kind of case, while the 127 was " deeper ", there was something behind the 127 which made this watch much " deep " to say it better.

if you add the mess around the use of the Marina Militare name, it definitely convinced me to not go on it.

While this is another story with the 232, 249 and 127... Without forgetting the very nice 372.

and I can't post them, now, unfortunately. Funny thing I was wearing the 232 today, eons after the last time I wore it. I agree with you, the dial grows and grows on you. I find it not quite so...tobacco...but spectacular nonetheless. I have a black JV (gray rather, but they call it black) on it and it's the best combination I've ever seen. But then again, the JV strap (I have the light brown JV on the Cali) makes almost every Radiomir look like a million bucks, IMO.

I'll see if I can charge the battery of the camera, shoot a couple of pics and show you what I mean....

RE the 339 - For those that know me, know I have and have owned a lot of watches. 

The 339 stands out as a watch people comment on the most.  Men and women all seem to feel the urge to tell me how "nice" and "cool" and "awesome" the 339 is when I wear it. 

I happen to really love that piece.  The color is totally unique and the weight is superb.  Its like wearing air.  I think it really is a stellar design from Panerai and I do realize people hate the fact that it is so inflated in price. 

If it makes you feel better - I basically paid top dollar for that watch.  I saw it in real, and I had to have it.  I have never paid over retail for a watch - except for this piece.  It triggered the whole Panerai bug in my soul again. 

I think that the 339 is a great Panerai - and fits well in with other important contemporary pieces.  It will be nice to see the new composite luminor when it arrives...if it ever arrives. 

I just wonder if what HORO once told me is true.....dont put your 339 in a glass of beer!

a quite remarkable piece, the 339. When my reseller (some would call him...flipper) told me he had one, I didn't even ask the price. Who cares, if you have to ask the price, chances are you can't afford it anyway... I wear it sparingly, not to "protect" it, but because it's pretty low in my wrist rotation ( I do own a few Panerai). I agree with you, it's much admired and oogled at but on the wrist but, well....a 127, 217, 232 make my eye want to know the time much more often......

the excitement and the hunt for these 3 and closing in on the 217 back in 2007. What a great time that was! Things became complicated thereafter as I headed in a different direction.

Good to see that these are still as desirable now!

I totally agree with what you said about the 232... It's such an amazing piece... Understated but amazing

Interestingly, we see that 232's lume shine the brightest...

As for the strap...

For 127, I would recommend OEM Cashmere / OEM JV or even try the OEM burgundy strap that comes with it...

For 232, I recommend the Asolutamente (339 strap) and OEM Dark brown gator, which works great for me..

For 249, Try OEM Dark blue gator or the original Tan strap, but you can go really dressy with a black gator with ecru stitch

And as for 339, just use the strap that comes with it.. I think it looks just amazing with the 339.

Once I get some straps in - I will be sure to post more photos.  Straps are a sickness ;-)

Regarding Stephen's post - These pics were taken the minute the watches were received.  I have removed all plastic and tags and watches have been on wrist.  I really do like the 232 - the solid caseback is key.  Wish the 249 and 127 has solid backs.  If not anything else but to not remind me that there is a unitas movement contained within. 

The new pieces coming out - 372, 375 etc - I like the fact they will have the manufacture movements - a watch of this caliber should have a worthy engine....I'm just sayin'.....

So, next on the short list I'd like a 317K, 28A or B, 172, 98, and we'll see from there....
