Do you guys like the domed crystal in the 1950 case?
Any of you would like to see Panerai make several models of the 1950's w/ a regular flat crystal?

it is an element that make these 47mm watches with the big 1950 cases unique. So my vote is to stay as it is for the 47mm 1950 cases. For the 44mm 1950 cases i would not mind.

As Panerai inpsired themself from a Vintage model, the 6152, it may be a bit less domed than in the 127 or 217...

But yes, as the case of the 127 / 217 is very close to the original Vintage watch, I can't imagine that we'd have a flat crystal on this kind of watch...

It would be an heresy, IMO...

So, let's keep the Statu Quo, or maybe a bit less domed, but the domed crystal is DNA!

we have the regular case with a more flat chrystal and the 1950 with a domed one, personally i don't see the need of a mix of both !

2 out of the 3 Pams I have are in a 1950 case BTW )

The dome shape crystal truly brings out the uniqueness of the 47mm 1950 cases.

They are `sexy` to me...

To me, the domed crystal is part of the distinctive feature of the 1950 case.

Its doom sapphire crstal glass its not only something special but constructing it made the case itself special too.

Agree on the 217 bigger 47mm case,much appealing.....

somehow the domed crystals done really work for me... but i am numpty at times

I would only want one, maybe 2 max, in my collection.  I prefer the 1950 case over the regular Luminor case though, but I'm positive I don't want domed crystals to dominate my Panerai collection.

If I had 10 Panerai's and I had to choose between all regular flat crystal or all domed crystal, I'd opt for all flat crystals.  The domed crystal is a nice novelty but I think I would get tired of it if I had to look at the distortion everyday on every one of my watches.

as it makes the dial look domed as welll

on 1950 cases though!

The domed  sapphire crystal disturbed the complete dial on the 1950.

That is the reason why I sold it.

They did a better job on the calli, a domed plexi.

I would love to see a base with the dome

I thought I would share a pic of my 127 with an aftermarket flat crystal. The original owner had the crystal swapped out due his inablility to get over the distortion created by the domed crystal. I have a few extral flat crystals if you are interersted. I prefer the domed crystal and had the original replaced.

If you change it for a flat one, this is all the Fiddy which is flat..This is very weird.

BUT, if you go half way, not flat, but not so domed...Maybe it could be the right thing...

Like on a Vintage one, which is not so domed...

The flat crystal on the 127 looks weird. The Dome really adds the character on the 1950 cases and I would really like that Panerai Continue to have the dome crystals. The Plexi on the 249s look really good and maybe Panerai can do this for the Fiddy base. Wishfull thinking.
