I don’t think they have ever introduced a no-date Submersible, which is unfortunate.

I don’t know the history of Panerai’s decision to introduce a Submersible line, but I always thought it interesting since Panerais are fundamentally dive watches to begin with. I’m assuming the decision came with their entry into the commercial / civilian watch market.
Without that it would just be an unnecessary date window messing up a simplistic Panerai dial. But the weird under-crystal cyclops ends up adding to the weird textured look of the watch in a way I'm enjoying. I think what I like about this actually comes across in your photos way better than in any of mine!
I had a very early tritium one like this that went with my other Panerai sadly. Truly superb watch. The date with its hidden cyclops is great, but I know we’ll have to agree to disagree.
