The bad? Only 30 meters water resistant... The old italian divers would just laugh.
The good, the superb chocolate California dial, and the platinum case, even though we can discuss that, since it is always strange to have a platinum case for such a watch.

I remember this one, it was the companion to the 249 in the "1936" limited edition if I'm not mistaken! Despite the much more limited production, I still recall the 262 available at ADs for a while when the 249 was already sold out...
No doubt a good-looking version, but I think those who chose the 249 vs. this P iteration made the right call! ;-) Cheers.
I find it pointless,
No matter the material they choose for the case the fact that it can’t go to the water it makes it pointless,beautiful but embarrassing for a Panerai !
I will have to admit I am not sure I have a good reason other then not sure I would get that reference (at all) in platinum…maybe if I saw it in the flesh I would melt for it!
I know. I wish I would have discovered PAM so many years ago! Feels like so many missed opportunities and they also seem to now a different route!

But is it really so difficult to produce a case that is at least 10 bar water resistant? Ok, even 6 bar (Hi Nautilus! 😊) would be better than that 30m WR.
This is a general question I very often ask myself. 100m WR should be a minimum standard.

I own a 262 that was recently serviced., the original retail price was $40,000 much more than the 249. Made in 2006 it’s getting to be a collectors item, I am a sucker for platium and the limited edition of 99 is pretty special. At this time, I cannot find one on the secondary market so they are rare. Personally I love the watch, in honesty I never even thought about it as a “dive” watch and the 30 m of water resistance is not an issue. It wears very nicely, more like a dress watch under a cuff for a 47mm watch thanks to the curved wire lug and low profile. It comes with (2) plexiglass crystals and the plexiglass can be polished to take out any swirls so pretty easy to maintain. It’s a keeper for me…Jim
