You have found one of the pieces that has an engraved dial... really cool feature

I too, waffled on this piece... for Panerai I like manual movements, preferably 8 day but I like the older 2002 movement over all the newer ones. My favorite dial layout actually has all 4 numerals and small seconds. Not too many choices there. This watch has domed sapphire, also a favorite feature of Panerai for me (preferred over plexy for me). The brushed case is a cool newer detail.
45mm with a 27mm strap is a tricky proposition for me. I definitely like how the 47mm case proportions with the 26/27mm strap better... but the 47mm case is naturally a different beast all together.
I settled on a 338, while it’s small for the purists Panerai. I have had the 190 and contemplated many wire lugged radiomirs.
The 992 is a special piece, but purists will choose the 249/232 and 720/721 for the 47mm and perhaps the 190 for a 45mm as their favorite wire lugged radiomirs.
All blue hands they found. With these much things on the dial they should have put into a 47mm case. Which I would like to see anyhow . What is nice is the finish of the case . PAnerai has produced worse watches in the past. So it’s a good looking Panerai which is easy to enjoy on the wrist
has a 3, a 6, a 9 and a 12. Anything you take away...maims it Adding a small seconds counter, strangely, has a far less negative impact than taking away one of the 4 "cardinal" numbers. IMO of course.
opinion. I do own a 36 BTW and I like it a lot too. I also own 2 "Firenze" models: 604 and 605, like them a lot an still consider them "post cards" wannabes. Other people are entitled to think whatever they...prefer.
I like it, but you must like it. It is one thing to like a watch and another to acquire for a collection. I hope you distill your thoughts and feeling to a solid conclusion. -John
45mm Radiomir (I have a 190 which fits well), sandwich dial, blue hands, 8-days, display back, cool finish of the steel, and one of the best OEM straps I have seen.
