5218 vs PreA?
Nice ones seem to fetch at least 50% more than a nice 2 Pre A, for example. Infinitely more desirable maybe, keen to hear experts' thoughts.
Collectors are fussy people....
they follow different parameters than the simple: I like it, I don't like it. The "LOGO" (that's how the 5218-201A is known to Paneristi) it's an historical FIRST and as such will always be worth more that a "swiss job" like the 2 Pre-A. Yes, the components of the 2 Pre-A are the original "Italian" ones but it's still a swiss job, since has been assembled and sold by the Vendome Group. It's like being the true son vs a "bastard". One don't have to agree with this, it just is. Personally, I love the 002Pre-A and it's "brother from another mother" the 009Pre-A but, and it's a big BUT, the modern, ORIGINAL Panerai's milestone is and will remain the....Logo, for ever. As a consequence it's appeal and intrinsical value, will always be higher than that of a "bastard" (if the 2 models are in perfect conditions, of course) no matter how..to kill for..is the latter
