One of the best watches ive ever owned. No white gold markers and a flatter superior steel bezel.

If you ignore

the ETA movements which are 2 a penny. But workhorse reliable. Still doesn't justify the prices.

Matter of fact I didn't forget the OORs, I left them out on purpose....

They are, for all intent and purposes..bonified LE..and the controversy surrounding them is just a political/ethical one, IMO. If someone mentions the OOR status of the watch it's telling the truth, not misinterpreting on purpose to fleece the client smile

Two things. The PAM 40, which is not in the catalog. And the OORs... The LE of LE. Totally agree with you, my friend. Good post. [nt]

It just reminds me of how I missed ALL the trains. I still scratch my head at times considering why I bought what I bought when I could have gotten a 232 or a 249 or a... I just need to be patient. Gotta believe in second chances smile

Thanks for the education, Sergio.

I share your...pain...

my friend. Many a time, while forking out "silly" amounts of money for stuff with an ETA/UNITAS movement inside, I had the same thoughts. If only the bug had bit me earlier or if I had known the existence of certain models (which I got to know about much later) I would have "emptied their shop" for a song and a dance...hahahahaha

Speaking about UNITAS ETA..

I don’t mind that those pieces of old didn’t have an “inhouse” movement. In fact, I think part of the charm is that they were NOT inhouse. It just needed to WORK. I remember the first time that I cranked up that pre-owned Pam000 that I bought last year.. Far from being buttery smooth.. quite rough sounding, like a rattling empty tuna can.. so that’s how winding a UNITAS felt.. I loved it smile

As much as I love my 372, I know what it is and more importantly, what it isn’t. But I’m just glad that they still make a really simple PAM under regular production. Outside of the 372, I’m not sure there’s a real basic time only PAM in the current lineup that hints at their old DNA (Not discounting the destro version of course or the 422 for that matter). In fact, I’d probably have preferred for the 372 to have a solid caseback and maybe do away with the faux patina. Wish they can come up with a basic regular rad and 1940 case which ain’t limited. Maybe make them low production. But not limited. Something folks who missed trains can aspire to ;-)

In House Movements

Are not necessarily better than the ETA/Valjoux movements that were used in the older models OP I, II, III etc. I was sold on my pam 87, 194, 64 for their design/looks rather than decorated movement. Each one of us have our own individual appeal for the brand and one day I will buy the 192 for the beautiful lemania movement which has a solid back unfortunately.

Thank you Sergio

Appreciate the education -- had never really looked at the Special Editions section of the Panerai website.  Good to know.
