. . . redundancy has it's merits . . . when my steel black dial Karree pereptual was under reconstruction at the manufactory, the steel grey dial Karree performed admirably in it's place. A backup perpetual can be useful in a pinch . . . cordially, Art

My 3rd G.O. and a group shot
I loved both the black dial and silver dial versions of this watch. One of the main reasons I opted for the silver is that there are a lot of nice black (or dark) dial sports watches that I like, whereas there aren't many silver (or light) dial watches that I like. The Yachtmaster was the only other desirable silver dialed sports watch to me, but I prefer the GO sport evo over it. So, it was a strategic move to have wider options to add another sports watch without my wife saying, "but you already have one just like it." Does that make sense?

My Wife Can't Tell my Panerai from a Swatch...
My wife is also clueless, for example, I have two watches. One is an ultra sporty Luminor Daylight Crono (limited) and the other is Zenith ChronoMaster XXL which is a very classic dress watch with and open-face and roman numerals. But since they both are stainless, have a stark white face and are on black croc straps (except the Panerai on rubber in the spring and summer), she NEVER notices one versus the other. And get this... she often wears the sister watch to the ChronoMaster, the Zenith open-face Queen of Hearts in red, and she still can't tell!!
She can't tell my Blancpain 50 fathoms scuba watch vs. my IWC Ingenieur pilots watch because they both have black faces and are on black straps. Heck, I don't even think she can tell my enormous Breitling Super Avenger (48.6 mm) vs. my smallish Jager-LeCoultre Master Compressor Dualmatic (42 mm) because both are stainless with black faces on bracelets. I should wear some of my ancient Swatch watches from the early eighties and see if she notices these... ha, ha.
But hey, congrats on your Sport Evo. I think you chose the best face b/c like you pointed out, it is the most unusual. You can't really tell in the photos; this is a watch you need to hold to feel the heft and you need to see in person to realize how the light dances on the face of this watch.
So well done, I've held that watch many times and just didn't pull the trigger. My wait has been rewarded as the new Sport Evo Perpetual is now in my sights. But I see you already have the stunning Senator Karree Perp so adding another Perp would have been somewhat of a duplication in your collection.
You sure have some awesome watches there my friend... no matter what our wifes think.

OK yeah, I agree with you Art. One of anything as fine and beautiful as
any GO watch is never enough.
When I wrote about "duplication" in a collection, I guess that was taken to mean "redundancy" and that's not what I meant. I should have written it more clearly because I was trying to support "diversification" in the early stages of a collection. I think this is particularly good when like Koji with just 3 watches, one is really just starting a collection. (I could be wrong if Koji has a pile of Vacherons and Pateks laying around his house.)
But I'm guessing Art, that you have more GO watches than I have finger and toes. And so to me, you are at a much different point in your collection; with different objectives and probably constantly looking to refine it.
But what really made me laugh Art, was when you wrote that being without your usual perpetual, put you in a pinch. I can't imagine how, but if you say so... OK.
To me, I would've been in a pinch two weeks ago in Bahrain if I didn't have a highly accurate chrono to take my own rough F1 split times, because I couldn't understand what language the announcer was speaking. I would've been in a pinch back in February while wreck diving in Palau if I didn't have a very bright and sturdy scuba watch. And I'm always in a pinch after I visit 3 countries in three different time zones in a single day, if I can't glance at my GMT watch to tell me exactly what time to call home in order to talk to my son right before he goes to bed.
But your dilemma made me laugh and it also reminded me of what I like most about this forum... the diversity of all the members, sharing about all their various watches, while all held together by a common passion of one single manufacture.

... but I had nice Italian at Primavera though. I'm not sure where I've had the best Italian of my life... that one might have to be a Top 10 List, if you know what I mean.
I guess I could never pick my favorite watch either. It keeps changing. For the past year or so it's been the Patek Nautilus with small seconds, moon phase, analog date and power reserve. But I can't buy it b/c my wife and I have an agreement... once I buy a Patek, that's my last watch. Period. The End. No mas. Fin.

Your collection is a testament to the scope of variety . . .
. . . found in the genus of G O . . . three essentially dissimilar watches on the surface - a sports watch, a chronograph, and a perpetual calendar - all with a common ancestry, and sharing the same basic movement. It's really heartwarming to see so many G O fans extending their collections laterally; your selection is one of the most diverse I've seen on the forum. You nailed it right on the head!
Thanks for the comments, Art. That is exactly what I appreciated about my little humble collection. They all shared the base Cal 39 but ended up being a diverse group of watches. I figured that these 3 watches can be a versatile group in which one of them could fit in almost any social situation or circumstance that I might find myself in.
As far as the new models recently unveiled at Basel, the are certainly many magnificent pieces, especially the Moritz Grossman. However, I haven't allowed myself to covet any one of them just yet. I just got my Karree perpetual and the Sport Evo within the last 3 or 4 weeks, so I am still in the honeymoon period with both of them.
I'm sure there will be other G.O.s in my future, but at the present time, I am quite happy and contented with these 3.
