With the warm weather this week, and ice cream being on sale at the local grocery store, I am indulging!  My current favorite flavor is Ben & Jerry's Oatmeal Cookie Chunk (sweet cream cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal cookie and chocolate chunks).  I have some great local ice cream places that I'm going to start frequenting again now that the weather is getting warm.

I will go with Pistachio Almond from Baskin Robbins.

...here in LA they call Baskin-Robbins, "31 Flavors."  At Baskin-Robbins I tend to go for fancy flavors, like toffee crunch or peanut butter chocolate (I have a drive-thru Baskin-Robbins a few blocks from my house!), but at Haagen-Dazs I usually have strawberry or vanilla.  Simple is often better.

I'll have to try that B&J taste for sure .

For me, favorite ice cream by the scoop here in LA is the one at Bennett's (the Grove), the flavor in question is white chocolate raspberry (from the places that I've been to obviously, there's always a bunch I haven't visited). As far as supermarket ice cream goes, my favorite was the Twix flavored one, but they don't seem to have it anymore . They've got the small Twix ice cream bars which are good, but not as good as the one-gallon package ice cream was.

It is action-packed, thrilling, poignant and humorous.  Great performances by Jean Reno, a precocious young Natalie Portman, and Gary Oldman.  Reno is always fun to watch IMO.  Have you ever seen Crimson Rivers?  It's a French film starring Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel -- a great police thriller.  However, skip the sequel, Crimson Rivers 2 is not good IMO.

I love watching Reno and his movies in most part appeal to me very much. Tais-toi is among the best comedies I've seen . As far as memory serves me I haven't seen Crimson Rivers (could be wrong), but now that you suggested it and I've looked it up on imdb I'll have to give it a look. I also saw Last Night a couple of days ago and thought it was very good. In no way outstanding, but I liked both the story and actors.

haven't had a TV since last year though so the lap-top is the do-it-all bit of kit for the time being . Fortunately it's got a great screen and blu-ray capability!

Fosselman's (on west Main in Alhambra), Milk (on Beverly near El Cayote) and Mashti Malone (on La brea near Sunset).  Scoops is good but in a bad area near L.A. city college.  Don't forget old school Thrifty's ice cream like Malted Chocolate Crunch!

Total brainfreeze on that one, especially after I made my cousin Paul drive me around Alhambra looking for the storefront after seeing it featured on Huell Howser's California Gold!  Everyone keeps talking to me about Milk.  I will have to check it out.  Thrifty's Chocolate Malt Crunch is delicious!  Scoops, I'm not familiar with.  I will have to research that. 

Have you tried ice cream from the Lake Street Creamery truck?  Their Pancake Breakfast flavor has bacon in it!  Yum!  Also good is their California Zephyr flavor (vanilla with Meyer lemon and mint -- so refreshing)!

Ever heard of pulut hitam aka black glutunious rice with coconut milk flavor? It's really yummy.

Black glutinous rice with coconut milk?!  I am so excited about that flavor!  I wonder if I can mail order some.  I have mail ordered ice cream from Ohio to LA before.  I wonder if I could mail order from Singapore!?  Hmmmm. 

I don't think I could go for vanilla with flavors like that being offered!

Udders is an awesome name for an ice cream shop!  You must photograph the glutinous rice ice cream for me next time you go!  It sounds so intriguing!    Thanks for the pictures.  Hope those ice cream fans don't get parking tickets.

Just bought the Hagen Das Green Tea ice cream flavor, haven't tasted it yet but will this weekend.

Maybe I have rose-tinted memories of eating ice cream in Paris, but I loved their hazelnut ice cream and also candied chestnut.  Yum!

Salted caramel seems to be a hot flavor around town lately.  I've seen ice creams, cookies, macarons, and pies with this flavor recently.  My favorite salted caramel candy comes from Little Flower Candy Company in Pasadena.
