I have been waiting for this upgrade as thought I am an early adopter and an Apple nerd, I usually don't get the first iteration, i.e., iPhone 3g. 

Probably going to go with the 32GB + 3G.  Was hoping for resolution bump but I guess they have to save something for iPad3. 

Weird that the Apple Online Store will not allow online ordering until March 11 when their CEO claims that its ready for delivery on the same day. 

... I bought an iPad a month ago ... .
So i definetely Will not buy THE iPad 2, maybe the third generation .... .
Or the fourth generation ?? ... .

Are you aware that Apple is offering a $100 back in the U.S. to all those that purchased an original Ipad within the last few months....see if they are doing that in the E.U. also.....guess they felt guilty!   Also I have seen a couple of articles (one auction website....understand?) that is offering articles or ads on how to see the original in order to buy an Ipad2.

Oh, and Charlene has a new name for our friend, "Teddy Graham" for he is so cuddly!

 

I'll check it out, but i think Europe is a bit too conservative for things like that

I see that there are 2 colors of the new iPad.  I'm thinking of getting the iPad2 for my parents as they are having fun with the iPod Touch, for me I'm probably going Android.

it would be a pretty easy tool for the folks to get online..

maybe an old ipad 1 for the folks as well...for me..

for the next version that may be released in September. My guess it will have a major screen upgrade.

Then again, she was like, if there is another upgrade in September, she will get that one for HER Xmas present...LOL

What did Apple add to the iPad2?  Seems like it just added cameras, a faster processor, and colorful cases for it.  It still doesn't have any memory card slots like a SD card nor does it have Flash support.

Not much of a difference from iPad1.  I don't own an iPad1 but if I did, I'd only upgrade to the iPad2 if I really had to HAVE the cameras for video chats.  Otherwise, not much of an improvement.  It's not even 4G or upgradable to 4G either but only 3G.

And making the iPad2 slimmer isn't that big of a deal for me.  When tablets are this thin to start off with, is there really any benefit to making it even thinner?  Most people buy a protective case for it so there goes the slimness of the tablet.

You can consider this a mid-year upgrade I guess.

Did watch an Engadget video of hands-on with ipad2 and the speed improvements are impressive for a handheld. I am still blown away at how fast Iphone 4 is compared to 3G.

Does anyone really need a tablet? No..but its nice to be on the couch and surf thepurists without having to deal with a laptop...LOL

If the changes are similar to the iPad Touch compared to the current generation one, the speed and slight mods is definitely worth the upgrade.  I've yet to use face time but I can see how that would be a nice feature.

... of the first iPad and use it all the time, there are not enough features in the iPad2 to make me upgrade, so I will be waiting for more significant models in the future.

This news was devastating to my 9-year-old son who was expecting the iPad to be passed down to him! But patience is a virtue that he needs to cultivate, particularly if he starts to collect watches! LOL

My son (8) is ecstatic as he is getting my iPad....

Some improvements for iPad 2 but the biggest advantage is that I ave an excuse
to give the old one to my son so he can get more educated and practice with the new
technology..... ( besides his birthday is coming up)

The only improvements are thinner, lighter, faster, camera.

The ipad1 is already thin and light enough to carry around. It's not like the difference between a DSLR and pocket sized cameras.

The speed difference may be huge, but ipad1 copes with existing apps well. It's not going to make a huge difference unless app complexity grows multi-fold.

So that leaves the camera, only if you want to do video/Favetime chats in it would be necessary.

Having said that, if you don't have an ipad1 already, it's time to get the ipad2.
