The Orchard Road Christmas decorations have been a feature of the Christmas shopping experience for years and they are more lavish and extensive every year.
Difficult to capture all the colour, noise and buzz of the Road, not to mention the humidity, but you get the idea.

Thanks for sharing the post AndrewD! Especially the picture of double decker #7, I used to ride that route every weekend from Holland Village to Orchard road, when I was in secondary school. Now I miss Orchard Road...
Missing Singapore,

Singapore is a great place to visit. Do you get back often? While shopping and eating usually seems to be the focus, this is even more so at Christmas time.
Here’s another Singapore landmark to take you back … St. Andrew’s Anglican Cathedral.

The food is brilliant and one of the pleasures of visiting. From hawker food to shopping centre food halls to more upmarket ‘international’ restaurants there is something delicious to be found for all tastes and occasions. When I sort my pictures out I will post something to whet your appetite.
We are lucky because Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and other Asian cities make a convenient stopover on the way to the rest of the world. You need to visit Singapore!

Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately, I haven't been back to Singapore for a few years, thus I planned on visiting next year
. I can't wait to see all the new malls & head out to Newton Circus for hawker center style food.
PS: Look forward to your food post -- hopefully you have my favorite dish: Thai Pandan Leaf Chicken picture. Amazingly, in LA, none of the Thai restaurant I frequent offers Pandan Leaf Chicken. I wonder if that dish is only offered in Singapore & Jakarta (I've never been to Thailand, so maybe Daos can comment on this
).
Counting down to Singapore trip,

This new shopping complex looks great and is a very vibrant part of Orchard Road. The architects (Benoy) apparently used nature to inspire their design and you can appreciate the organic qualities of the ‘trees’ used to support the complex.
Very photogenic, particularly at Christmas, but I felt a bit like I had entered the world of Blade Runner with advertising projected onto the 3-storey high walls.

... while my wife was shoe shopping! Seems like a fair exchange?
It's a great space and THG are to be congratulated. Nice selection of watches. Was impressed (again) with Vianney's Trio.

As I mentioned, Singapore has a wide range interesting places to eat. While we have done some of the ‘classic’ dishes, such as chilli crab, on previous visits, this time we wanted to sample some of the finer European influenced establishments to gauge how well Singapore is maintaining its multicultural standards.
Iggy’s was really the standout epicurean experience (note to pplater: as good as our ‘local’ standard, Tetsuyas, and better than Vue de Monde, IMO, although a different culinary approach).
What follows is a selection.
Andrew
Iggy’s has been at the Regent since 2004 and is an intimate space designed to showcase the food. We sat at the long bar where we had glimpses into the kitchen. The service was excellent and engaging – so many high-end establishments can be a little too mechanical in their presentation these days. At Iggy’s, however, the warmth and enthusiasm of the staff for the food shon through.
So here is the menu and a few of the memorable courses:

Lunch at Au Jardin was in a beautiful setting amongst the tranquil tropical gardens. An oasis amongst the humid greenery. A pleasant lunch, but nothing very inventive. I will let the images speak for themselves.

Gunther’s is a French-influenced restaurant in the Garibaldi stable, named after the head chef Gunther Hubrechsen. Located around the corner from Raffles it was a pleasant experience with attentive staff. Fun to see the ‘raw’ (read “still kicking”) ingredients presented at the start of the meal. And the coffee was reasonable.

Actually the sashimi scallop was nicely done as was the egg with jamon and mushroom (I love breakfasts, although this was obviosuly dinner).

of myself... I'm Singaporean and have not been to 3/4 of the food places you have been to.... but truth be told, I'm very much an eat to live person...
Glad you have a good time here.
A visit to Singapore would not be complete without a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel.
Iconic +++

Well there are so many recipes for Singapore Sling, and even the original version, created by Ngiam Tong Boon a century ago, is lost. I would hope that Raffles gets it ‘right’ more than others, seeing as they invented it. It is certainly a tangy and refreshing cocktail, but it has more of a sting than the name suggest.

The pictures remind me a bit of Christmas decorations in Beverly Hills. I love seeing how folks all over the world celebrate the holidays.
Thanks for sharing, Andrew!
Cheers,
Daos
