Rightly or wrongly, firearms posts have been allowed on WPS despite the fact that they are a divisive, non-horological subject. Firearms posts are an interesting exception to the "refrain from controversial non-horological subjects" rule.
To the fraction of WPS gun enthusiasts that shows their enthusiasm here: Please continue to consider the feedback you've received from other members who have told you that your non-horological content upsets them. Maybe ask yourself, "Would my life really be THAT much worse if I didn't post about guns on a watch website?"
To those who are upset by the firearms posts: C'est la vie. You'll have to deal with seeing them from time to time. But you still have every right to continue speaking up when you do see them -- to make your voice heard by politely telling other members that their controversial non-horological content upsets you, and by asking them to kindly refrain. And know that most firearms enthusiasts on WPS already do respect your wishes, as demonstrated by the fact that very few engage in those discussions here on WPS.
[Note: I have nothing against guns. I used many in the military, large and small, and have enjoyed shooting ever since I was a little kid (though I rarely do it nowadays and am quite bad at it). Although firearms themselves don't bother me, seeing other WPS members upset does bother me. Feel free to PM me if you have questions or would like to discuss. Always happy to have thoughtful, respectful dialogue about challenging subjects.]
