It's A Trick Question
Imho it depends on how the overall design is visually complementary to one's wrist. On one hand I love the Panerari 1118 TRON, yet there are times I love wearing the super-thin Bvlgari Octo FS.
Big... Small... The whole point is to enjoy your time

Size is not a problem for me. I had and have watches from 32 mm to 47 mm. I guess it depends on the category. For a refined watch, 40 mm is the maximum, even better if somewhere between 36 / 38.
A tool watch can go up to 47 mm without problem, for me. A sports watch somewhere between 38 to 44 mm.

By the way I agree with you classification of sizes depending the type of watch.

What can I say about your Montblanc monopulsoir chrono? I remember you won a trial wearing same watch during a very long period of time with it. The charm and enjoyment of this watch must have helped you to survive this "sacrifice" of not rotating watches for such a long time!

If my memory serves me well, I ended at the second place. One of our furious friend spent half a year with the same watch on the wrist. :)))
I didn´t even participate as I felt I wouldn´t resist just a couple of weeks! Ha ha ha! Second or first place means a LOT of time! even with a beautiful timepiece like your Montblanc on the wrist! ;)
