Omega

Thanks for your compliments and compassion, Art!

After the trouble I had with a dubious Omega Chronometer some time ago I am really happy to have found this example of "impeccable provenance" as you put it very well.
The 2013 Seamaster looks very nice and not as big as usual. Is it true or just an illusion? I am eager to learn more and would be too happy if Omega should go back to its classic roots.

Kind regards

Good eye! Yes, the model pictured . . .

. . . has a 41.5 mm case compared to the 43 mm case of the one I reviewed a few years ago, and Omega has also introduced an AT annual calendar in a 38.5 case size.

38,5 mm would be a size I might think about ... [nt]

A visual scan of the two . . .

. . . leaves me to believe they're of identical heights, so the aspect ratio will be somewhat 'thicker' with the smaller case.  I'll have a wrist shot or two posted next week.

Who dare to dislike ...

This fine example of the most glorious days of horology?

Beautiful and tempting.

Congratulations,

Nilo

"The glorious days of horology" - that´s exactly how I feel about these watches. I know I am a hopelessly nostalgic person smile!

Best regards

A beautiful watch indeed...

...and in great condition, congratulations!

Wish I had the box and papers for mine...you certainly are lucky.

I still haven't had a chance to have mine opened up either. Need to find a watchmaker with the right tool to satisfy my curiosity about the movement. But it does keep time within about five seconds a day, so I can't complain.

I share your problem, Emil, but ...

as your watch keeps excellent so does mine. No urgent need to have it opened.
Yours looks very well preserved, my congratulations!

you may find the movement is a 562.

 By: G99 : August 20th, 2013-01:31
the 560's were mainly made for the US importer Norman Morris and is a 562 with 17 jewels instead of 24 that the 562 has. all due to the US import restrictions and charges for 'jewels'.
most swiss made models have the 562, whilst the US models have the 560.
having said that, my steel cased swiss made model has a 560 in it so nothing is set in stone.

i would be very interested to know what actually is inside it as it would help us know more about the usage of the 3000 560 calibres made. a very small number for so many models.

enjoy it Andreas and dont forget me in the future smile

Graham

Cal. 562 most likely then

 By: anaesdoc : August 20th, 2013-04:56

Hello Graham,

according to your information the cal. 562 is most probable as the watch was sold in Italy. Art presumed a cal. 560, but he will mainly see vintage Omegas that were sold in the US.

I will remember you if I should get a sight of the movement or get bored!

Best regards
