Omega

Hi all,

I got this AT 8500 silver 41.5mmm some months back after much consideration. After all, I'm was not quite accustomed to spending more than $300 for a watch.  But reading and learning and appreciating from the forums here and elsewhere, has flamed my enthusiasm and I thought I'd start somewhere. Something simple 1st.

There were of cos, many choices...but somehow this ended up with me 1st.

I think it's of great value...the built, heft, details, brand and of cos the new movement...drew me to it eventually.

on my 6.5 wrist, feels heavy, but fits snug

Nothing humble about that one at all. A lovely watch, quite likely destined to become a modern classic IMHO.

A striking dial full of subtle detail, a classic omega case shape with the twisted lugs, great bracelet, a beautifully decorated in-house movement, technically interesting coaxial escapement. A real watch (to pinch a marketing catch phrase from another well known brand…)

What more could you ask for ?

This is a fantastic piece -- not "humble" at all IMO.  I love the rotor on this watch!  Altogether, a very attractive pickup!  Thanks for sharing the photos with us.  It looks great on your wrist!

Congratulations on your new acquisition.  I purchased the same model as a round number birthday gift for a family relative last year.  Like you he had not really the experience of purchasing watches in the price range but after learning a bit more about modern mechanical watches, he was hooked and the Omega has been wrist bound ever since.  It's a definite keeper - I found it hard myself to let it go as a gift!  All the best with your nice new piece.
